DeLoreans aren’t really common here in 2015, that and they weren’t great cars back in the 80s either.
I would go for a panther. Probably an early 2000s or early 90s Crown Victoria as they only have small differences from the later ones and they could potentially be restyled to blend in better with the times.
They also don’t look out of place hiding behind billboards or any other weird locations.
I’d get rid of the modular engine and put in some sort of system for an easy switch back and forth between FI and carburated fuel delivery (this is a world where time machines exist of course, almost anything is possible.). I’d do this so I could find parts whenever I go and run better on the wide varieties of fuel offered.
That and you have tons of space for time travel equipment and your dogs.
88mph should be possible enough, more so than a DeLorean I would think.
What would you choose Oppo?

here is the typical Jalop answer, but a diesel wagon. color doesn’t matter.
diesel has been around forever, and will last a lifetime. the engines are practically bulletproof, just do your timing belt change before you go anywhere, and you’ll be good for 100K. my jetta may not have been the fastest vehicle, but i have the tickets to prove it has no issues going 88+

I mean, it already looks like the future. Or I’d pick an RX-7. Because it looks so good.

Wrangler Unlimited with the Mr. Fusion also powering the wheels.

Not a car.
The best time machine would be a booth and a remote. You walk into the booth and through the portal to where/when you want to go. Use the remote to open another portal and come back, if you want.

I’d shy away from newer cars. Think about going back to 1955 or earlier. Roads could vary in condition. And parts availability.
Awesome choice non the less. I hope these depreciate like the 8 series of the 90s.

Excellent point. But wouldn’t it also need to be a teleporter since the portal would let you out where you entered in the present?

An Econoline. They don't look out of place anywhere, and you really can't get much more room than a full sized van.

Good choice. You could probably take a CJ-5 body onto a TJ or something so it blends better over a wide area of time. CJs are cool now and more common than DMC12.

Is the P71 fully stainless steel? Because it has to be, to help with flux dispersal.

True. And you can sleep in it. Not sure about the 88mph though.

Yeah parts availability would be an issue. Then in that case, how about an old truck. Like a late 70s/early 80s Ford F150.

That could work. A little slow but they can go fast.

Because I want to travel in comfort and style dammit. Plus in the future they may have understood the magic of the green orbs.

They could. And if it has an old v8 or inline 6 you can actually just fix it with a hammer.

If there were to be a re-release of the film that would be one of my first choices. But imagine finding tires for that in 1955.

It has to be able to hit 88 mph, though.

Why the fuck would I want to go to 1955? I’d rather find a young Henry Leland and “inspire” him.

I’m sure a drivetrain swap could sort that out.

Leaded gasoline might pose a problem along with the availability of fuel. Still not a bad choice. I think I’d travel to where I want to go in the past in the present and fill up before going back.

Funnily enough even the very early 75hp DS has a top speed of exactly 88mph.

It's completely irrelevant. Make it out of whatever, travel forward far enough to find a new power source such as Mr. Fusion and gather whatever parts you may need to service it.

Propulsion aside, being noticed in a radical vehicle for the time can have lots of conciquences.

Any vehicle in a time before it existed is going to look out of place, and if you took a Panther to 2150 I bet it’ll look weird too.

This is true. You can still try and have as wide a range as possible.
